The Bioproducts Initiative is specific to non-food, non-medical value-added products and processes developed from agricultural products competitively produced in Alberta.Focus Areas: 1. Biopolymer development 2. Biomass utilization for value-added development 3. Agriculture-based fibresObjectives:The primary objective of this initiative is to grow and diversify Alberta's value-added agriculture sector into industrial materials and products. Supported research will target specific initiatives within the above two areas of focus. Investments will expand on existing research platforms and favor those with strong industrial and commercial interests. To this end, investment in this research will result in an internationally recognized concentration of expertise, an established development program and increased industry investment in related product streams in the province.Funding: Original: $5 million Remaining: $275,000 (2/14/2012)ACIDF Deliverables: 1.
